It was so much fun,
Those games we played.
Laughing together,
Attracting way too much attention!

Spectator watched hungrily, wanting what was not his.
Greedily licking cosmic lips –
Wringing ghostly hands inside planetary pockets.

He wanted those golden spheres!
Imagine that, such a thing so easy to do,
Yet he couldn’t do for himself.
It was just a little too creative.

He wanted those golden spheres!
And he watched our ease in throwing them out,
So many for the asking!
Juggling those golden spheres.

But, he demanded them
Rather than admire –
Threatened,
Rather than ask.
Forced,
Rather than wait.

Until the game ended.
By deciding we should no longer create golden spheres,
For the reason that we would no longer attract
Sphere thieves.

Until original golden spheres became scarce.
Secreted away by he who had to have,
Fought for most viciously.
Hidden as something valuable.
Valuable and scarce.

But, sorely missed by one creator
Who had forgotten her loss,
When really, all she has to do is recall,
And golden spheres will dance again
In her hands.

Saturday night I had the honor and the privilege of performing with The Nashtones at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tn. The occasion was a writers symposium and it was so much fun. The people were lovely and had such a great time. Everyone did a lot of dancing, laughing and memory making. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of performing at this event. I look forward to returning next year. I would add a picture of the crowd but I am not seeing on this page where to add the picture! Sorry!!

Both of my parents had very little education and therefore, making a living to support a family was a very difficult situation for my Father to say the least. We were a family of six and times were very lean. At the age of 10 we moved to the state of Oregon. It was a beautiful State and the people there were very nice. It was at that age that I began to notice that I was the girl with the bucked teeth, messy hair and wrinkled clothes with the shoes that were too small. I would see so many pretty girls in my class and in my school come to school looking so beautiful. Their Mom's would make their clothes, they always had the prettiest shoes and hair accessories and beautiful jewelry as well. My brothers were the little guys that would show up at school with their pants on backwards, their boots on the wrong feet, unbrushed teeth and messy hair. To say the least, we were the misfits of the school. We were the ones that no one invited to birthday parties or sleep overs. We were the ones that were never picked for sports teams. We were the ones that regularly had visits from the Police Dept. on weekends due to violent situations. Through the Church in my community and the many great and wonderful friends that reached out to me in my school, I had the great opportunity of many families opening up their homes to me and welcoming me in as one of their own. The great people of this small community always made sure I had something to eat, a shower and somewhere safe to sleep and something nice to wear to school. At age 11 I tought myself how to play the guitar and the piano and started writing music. I was never very good at academics so my friends would help me with homework, etc... and the teachers were very kind and helpful as well. By the time I wa 17 we had moved. In the new city we lived in, I worked occasionally on weekends with a band in a bar. My parents would take me to work and I would sit in the parking lot on set breaks as I was under age. My pay was usually used to take care of my Dad's tab. By the time I was 19 I was on tour for the first time. To make a long story short. The Bible says, "The first shall go last and the last shall go first." It seems all my life I have always been dead last. Through much prayer, study, work and sacrafice, who would have ever thought that God would have taken that little girl with the bucked teeth, dirty clothes, messy hair and shoes that were too small as she walked with a limp and turned her into The Outlaw Princess of Nashville! God knows the deepest disires of our heart. It has always been my dream to be a Nashville Performer. I just had no idea that living in Nashville would mean that I would be privilidged and honored of meeting and befriending some of the kindest most talented people on the planet. I am so very greatful that God plucked me out of that horrible life, dusted me off, gave me friends that truly loved me and treated me as their own family and have always incouraged me to move forward towards my dream of being in Nashville. I never got to be a Homecoming Princess but now it is my job to be The Oulaw Princess. I love my job!!! LOL!! Thank you Jesus for loving me and thank you Nashville for your kindness.

I am very much looking forward to being a main act on the "LADIES SING THE BLUES CRUISE" leaving New Orleans DEC. 6 -11, 2010.  We will be visiting Progresso & Cozumel, Mexico with 3 nights of uniquely sounding Blues shows. We are also having a 'free liquor' meet and greet the first night out - a VIP Cocktail Party! I am also inviting anyone who wishes to meet me on the deck the first morning out to have coffee and watch the sunrise together if you are up for it.

Please join me for this fabulous time on the ocean. It's a Carnival Cruise - the #1 cruise line. If you book before the end of June, you will get a free vacation upon booking!

http://valeriescotella1.vpweb.com/LADIES-SING-THE-BLUES-CRUISE.html

This is an all inclusive, exclusive deal: you must book your cruise through the travel agents at fancruises.com to see the blues concerts and join in the V.I.P. fun.

I am planning on having a brand new CD ready to be released on the cruise (CD Release Party anyone?) with some great new tunes!  Come on board and be the first to get a copy personally signed by me and the band.

The other two Ladies Singing The Blues are Vivian "Vance" Kelly (Vance "Guitar" Kelly's daughter and a recent Petrillo Band Shell stage act at the Chicago Blues Festival) & Pat Hunter, a Long Island blues diva who will have an All Star Band performing with her featuring some big blues names like Sarasota Slim (FL - guitar), Nitro Bozeman (FL- harmonica) and Steve Nixon (IL - formerly with Ronnie Baker Brooks - keys).  This cruise will have Nashville, New York and Chicago Blues Stars all for one very affordable price.

What more could you ask for?

Smilin' atcha and lookin' forward to meeting you in person.

Terri Lynn
